There’s a brutal reality to working in software: What we make is ephemeral.
Most of the software and websites my teams have built over the years have either transformed into something unrecognizable or have disappeared altogether. Like the ship of Theseus, software changes constantly—until the original version no longer exists.
This reality raises a challenging question: when we look back on our careers, what have we truly created? If everything we design eventually fades away, what are we left with?
