Is AI changing your job? Are you paid fairly for your role? Is design gaining influence at your company, or losing it?
Design and tech are changing dramatically. AI adoption has created a reconning of our workflows, tooling, and teams. The role design plays inside companies is shifting, and many designers are uneasy about what comes next.
We want hard data on how much has changed. The State of Design Survey 2026 asks designers at every level about their work, their teams, and their careers. In November we’ll publish a report that shows:
How AI is changing the work: which tasks designers hand to AI, and how many now prototype or ship in code
Which tools designers rely on: the design and AI tools in regular use, and how they differ by role
Where careers are heading: layoffs, how long job searches take, and how confident designers feel about the next three years
Where design has a say: who design reports to, when it gets involved, and who makes the final call
What designers earn: salary ranges by role, experience, and region
The survey takes about 10 minutes. Your answers are anonymous and only reported in aggregate. Leave your email at the end and we’ll send you the full report free in November.
The more designers who answer, the clearer the picture gets for all of us.
Thanks in advance for contributing,
-Aarron and Eli
